JVA and NTV in Lausanne for World Grand Champions Cup meeting

 

JVA and NTV representatives at the FIVB headquarters in Lausanne in the company of FIVB Athletes' Commission President Gilberto "Giba" Amauri de Godoy Filho, sporting his World Championship and Olympic medals.

Lausanne, Switzerland, November 2, 2016 - Representatives of the Japan Volleyball Association (JVA) and of broadcasters NTV were at the FIVB headquarters in Lausanne on Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss preparations for the 2017 edition of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup.

The 2017 World Grand Champions Cup will take place in Japan from September 5 to 10 (Women) and from September 12 to 17 (Men) and serve as the climax of the season a month after the end of the FIVB Volleyball World League.

The meeting participants discussed organisational matters related to specific competition regulations including the competition halls and hotels, participating teams, team entry, technical timeouts, officials and referees. The competition calendar, procedures connected to the drawing of lots ceremonies, the match timetable and the implementation of the Challenge System were also reviewed, as well as the equipment to be used during the competition (flooring, nets) and the venue decoration plan.

The Japan Volleyball Association was represented by Secretary General Takahiko Hayashi, International Events Division Deputy Managing Director Katsuhiro Hainishi, and by Takahiro Fujino and Aya Takai from the association's International Events Department. They were joined by Motonari Sakai, Main Producer, and Kumiko Saito, Producer, from NTV's Sports Division.

Japan has hosted every edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Grand Champions Cup to date. The inaugural edition of the quadrennial competition took place in 1993. Brazil were victorious in both the men's and the women's competition in the last edition in 2013.
