In 2017, volleyball will return to Japan, the country of its Olympic birthplace. The 7th edition of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup will provide Japan with a fantastic opportunity to showcase its love and passion for our sport at a time when all eyes have turned from Rio to Tokyo.
This tournament is the only event that brings together the continental champions from four of the five Continental Confederations, to find out who is the “best of the best”. They will be faced by the hosts, Japan, and a wild card.
The cup has changed hands many times since the tournament started in 1993 and I know we can all look forward to genuinely exciting competition. The action on the court will be matched only by the quality and innovation of the fan experience. And after the tournament is over, I am sure we will all be inspired to go away and work as hard as we can to make 2020 the success I know it can be.
